Patal Bhubanashwar Cave (a wonder place) - “Light House of Life, human Knowledge and Wisdom”. Part 4 and last part..

The priest family, the Bhandaris is performing religious rites at Patal Bhubanashwar since the time of the Adi Shankaracharya.

More than 20 generations in the line. They are a treasure house of legends, lore, anecdotes and information about this holy place.

It is also believed that this Cave is internally connected to the four abodes /seats (Char Dham).

Patal Bhubanashwar has emerged as an interesting area for tourists to visit and in the vicinity of the caves there are a few small hotels available for staying.

Good Indian food is also available there.

Hotels are also available in the nearby town of Gangolihat.

After visiting the caves one has an option to move to nearby other towns also namely Berinag and Chokori

From these places a picturesque view of Himalaya can be seen.

Caution – during rainy season it is not advisable to visit because after rain the soil becomes moist and intact resulting in less circulation of air.

Those who suffer from breathing and heart problems or are old or pregnant ladies and kids below age of 6 years are advised not to go down in the cave.

Season – Best time to visit – March to June and September to November.

Timings: 8am-6pm (summer), 9am-5pm (winters). Batches of 60 allowed at a time (since entry and exit gates are same).

Your own vehicle (can halt at any place, relax for a night and do the rest of the journey).

In returning journey by changing route one can go to Dwarahat, another pilgrim and beautiful place and famous for Baba je's Cave too if interested, if s/he is using own vehicle.
